Whittling Sticks

This week in Forest School, Year 4T took part in a high risk activity. The pupils were taught how to whittle sticks using a bushcraft knife.

Children were taught how to use the knife safely. Kneeling on the ground with the stick placed on a block of wood, the children learnt how to keep their hand on the coloured part of the knife and to scrape the wood down and away from themselves.

It took a lot of patience and perseverance, but they managed to achieve the task set.
