A British Bird Hunt

To link in with the RSPB’s Big School Birdwatch, Year 2U have been learning all about birds in this weeks’ Forest School session.

The children started off the session with a garden bird hunt using spotter sheets to match as many pictures of birds as they could find in the school grounds…

We then spotted some nests in the trees in the school grounds and looked at a real bird’s nest. This nest was abandoned and we talked about how a nest should never be moved or touched in the spring time as this is when birds are raising their chicks.

The children then put their skills to the test to see if they could make a nest using sticks and leaves…
