This week in Forest School, Year 6B were set the task of tidying our Forest School area; removing branches and sticks which helped to reinforce how to safely carry large, natural materials.
A few weeks ago a large den was created by Year 6 in the style of an air raid shelter. This afternoon, whilst carefully deconstructing this den, the children let out a burst of shrieks and cries as a frog leapt from underneath the den which he had decided to make his home.
After successfully catching this friendly amphibian the children soon calmed down and were in awe of this creature with long legs and slimy skin. After naming him ‘Stuart’, we carefully released him into our wildlife pond where he will most likely hibernate underneath our log pile.
This encounter inspired the children to find more creatures that may be living in our school grounds…
