Knots and Scavenger Sticks

This week in Forest School, Year 3F and 4T have been perfecting their knot tying skills. The ability to tie knots is important in everyday life.

The children worked together learning to tie knots, using parachord, around their leg, with their eyes closed and then helping each other. By the end of the lesson every child was able to tie a simple knot.

This skill was then used to create scavenger sticks. Each child chose a stick and went on a scavenger hunt to find items such as acorns, berries and leaves. They used coloured pieces of wool to tie the items to their stick using the new skill learnt that afternoon.
