This week in Forest School R1, with the help of two Year 5 pupils, built their very first dens in the style of castles to fit in with their Creative Curriculum topic. They learnt how to carry branches and sticks safely and that communication, listening and good team work is extremely important. The children had to make decisions together and figure out the best strategies. For a first attempt, and with minimal help from myself and Year 5, these castles are extremely impressive.
After the Year 5 camp fire on Friday, a batch of charcoal was created from burnt wood. R1 used this charcoal to draw castles on the trees and pieces of wood in the school grounds.
