‘Y’ Stick Loom Weaving

This afternoon year 5HC used sticks and yarn to create their own weaving loom.

Each pupil found a ‘y’ shaped stick to begin with. Some found these on the ground whereas others discovered large ‘y’ shapes in trees created by the joining of two branches.

Using a piece of yarn each pupil created their loom by securing the end of the yarn to the bottom of the stick and then making a criss-cross pattern between the two sticks and pulling tightly each time before securing with a knot at the end.

Once their loom was created they used different coloured yarn to weave onto their loom.
