Fire Steels and Mini Worlds

This week year 2U learnt how to create a ‘spark’ using a fire steel. They learnt how to use the steel correctly, how to hold it and what technique is needed to create a good spark! The children encouraged and congratulated each other which was so good to see. Every child persevered and every child managed to create a spark by the end of the lesson. They found it very addictive too; once they had mastered the technique they were very keen to continue and perfect their technique. It was so good to see the excitement on their faces when they had learnt something new.

During the session the children also created miniature dens and worlds.

One group made a playground with a house, slide and swing…

Groups made dens fit for a hedgehog…

And one group made a bird feeding station…

At the end of the session the groups shared their finished products with the rest of the class…
