Miniature Rafts

To link in with their ‘rivers’ topic, Year 6W took on the challenge of making a miniature raft that was able to float on water. The raft could be no longer than their forearm, had to be made from natural materials (with string to help) and of course had to float. Once made, the pupils tested their rafts on a large puddle of water. They discovered that the lighter the materials and the larger the surface area, the more likely they were to float.
