Forest School: Bug Hunting and Mini Dens (Year 3H)

Today, Year 3H started off the session by learning how to carry branches and sticks safely. Branches and large sticks are used frequently in Forest School sessions and for health and safety reasons it is important to educate children on how to carry large branches and sticks by dragging them across the ground behind them. Even the smallest child carrying the largest of sticks can move a branch easily using this method…

Afterwards, the class were given the opportunity to choose their activity and who they would like to work with.

The pupils were given three options to choose from:

  • Bug Hunting: This proved to be the most popular activity and the pupils soon discovered numerous insects living in our fire pit and amongst the wild flowers around the fire pit…
  • Creating Mini Dens. Many pupils were inspired to create miniature homes for the insects they had found during their bug hunting expeditions!…
