Bug Hunting in Spring

It is that time of year, insects and other minibeasts are waking up to the spring sunshine. A slightly chilly morning but nevertheless, year 5 decided to go on a minibeast hunt. In 30 minutes they found plenty of centipedes in the leaf litter as well as an amazing looking green shield bug. Caterpillars were found on the back of leaves and a large black beetle was found near the bottom of a tree. After a slightly drizzly night there were plenty of slugs, snails and worms to be found.

The children were very keen to learn more about the smaller wildlife that we share our world with and overcame their creepy crawly fears at the same time!
